Hi GAWVI please tell us a little about yourself, how did you get into music?

Hey! I grew up in a church going family and we were very involved with leading the music services. My mother and sister sang, I would at times play the piano and that is what grew my passion for music. That lead me into playing the trumpet for school, then learning how to produce music.

Who has been your greatest musical influence?

As far as producers, definitely Pharrell, Will I Am, Timbaland and Kanye West.

What song do you usually start with in your sets?

I try to change it up and make it special for the city and show I’ll be performing at. Last few I’ve been using a track I made for Lecrae “I Wouldn’t Know”.

Your latest EP is a step away from your Hip Hop roots, moving towards pop/dance. Explain your new sound in 3 words.

Fun, Free and Cultural

Favorite DJ’s/Producers?

Pharrell, Will I Am, Timbaland and Kanye West. On the Electronic side of things I’d have to say I really enjoy Calvin Harris and Kygo.

The best and worst part of your job? Best part is I get to do what I love, worst part is sometimes I’m away from the people I love.

If you could choose one artist to work with in the future, who would it be and why?

There’s so many but off the top, Juan Luis Guerra. He means so much to the sound of Dominican Republic where my family is from and I look up to his bold moves sonically! He’s a genius.

What was it like to work on the Billboard #1 album Anomaly?

It was a lot of fun, always great to team up with Lecrae and see the great impacts he is doing in culture!

Three things you can’t live without?

1. Family
2. Latin Culture
3. Music

Any loves, other then music?

I love Italian mafia movies and Italian food!

What advice do you have for new producers just starting out? What was the best advice you’ve been given?

Work on your craft 24/7. I remember making at least 5 beats a day when I was just starting. You have to live this passion, you can’t just be a beat maker, become a music producer.

What’s the best event you’ve played at?

The Wiltern Theater in LA was an epic show earlier this year. Excited for more.

When you’re not producing or performing, what do you get up to in your spare time?

Hang with the family and friends. And a little bit of Top Golf haha.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?

Very present among some of the best and performing at major festivals like Ultra and Tomorrow World.
